3nLab Institute

What is it all about...

The core missions of the 3nLab Institute are 1) to foster the creation and development of open source tools, software and programming languages in applied mathematics, mathematical programming and numerical computation & algorithmics as well as their application to open automated data processing and analysis, neural computing, etc. and 2) to promote their adoption and utilisation for both educational and open research purposes.

The term open source refers here to any software whose source codes are open and free of i) access and execution for all uses, ii) adaptation and improvement, and iii) duplication and redistribution.

The 3nLab Institute is a not-for-profit organization that pursues the achievement of these missions by carrying out the following (non-exhaustive list of) activities

  • Open programming collaborative-lab sessions
  • Organization of courses and events such as seminars, conferences and workshops in applied mathematics (computational mathematics, numerical algorithms/optimization, mathematical programming, etc.) and computer science (algorithmic, programming, etc.)
  • Production of free and openly accessible teaching/educational material in these fields
  • Advanced and remedial courses in these areas for students up to doctoral and post-doctoral level
  • Offer and organization of unpaid internships in these fields for students from higher education level (University or not, short or long type) up to doctoral and post-doctoral level
  • Assistance in the analysis, revision and translation of scientific & technical documents and reports

The 3nLab Institute comittee and all its members do everything to steer and organize these activities and beyond.
